Artist Statement: 

I love watching horror movies, but one thing always bothers me. Why are the characters so stupid? They always insist on investigating a strange noise when it is just common sense to go the opposite direction. I have had this idea for months, maybe even years. What if the characters were smart and made all the right decisions, but in the end it did not matter. To me, that sounds absolutely terrifying, to fight so hard using your competence and avoiding the typical horror movie cliches only to die regardless. I want the audience to feel scared yet excited for this more realistic film. I am choosing to use the Japanese creature, the Baku, since I have a love for Japanese folklore as well as fantastical monsters.
